According to WABetaInfo, a well-known feature tracker, new code discovered in the latest beta version of WhatsApp for iOS reveals that the app is working on a feature to quickly share status updates. This feature was detected after WhatsApp released the beta version 25.28.10.72 for iOS. Although it’s not yet available, it’s currently in development and could be added in a future release.
Based on a screenshot shared by the tracker, WhatsApp will revamp the Status Updates page interface, making it look more like Instagram’s layout. The number of views will appear in the bottom-left corner of the screen.
The most notable change will be the addition of two new quick-sharing options for other Meta-owned apps—Facebook and Instagram.
With these new options, users will be able to post their WhatsApp status updates directly to the mentioned social media platforms.
The feature tracker noted that users will retain full control over where their status updates are shared. They’ll be able to manually choose to post on Instagram, Facebook, or both individually. This means that sharing an update on WhatsApp won’t automatically post it on Facebook, and vice versa.
Users may need to link their WhatsApp accounts to Meta’s Account Center to use this new functionality, which serves as a central hub for managing how Meta apps are connected.
