A team within “TBD,” one of the four groups under Meta Superintelligence Labs, is working on developing Llama 4.X, with the goal of completing the models in time for release at the end of the year, according to two people familiar with the matter who spoke to the outlet on condition of anonymity since they were not authorized to speak to the press.
Meta’s release of the Llama 4 models in April, which included “Scout” and “Maverick,” faced criticism from some developers who felt they failed to meet practical task requirements such as programming, logical reasoning, and following instructions. The TBD team, currently working on Llama 4.X, is aiming to fix these shortcomings and revive the Llama 4 model, according to sources who spoke with Business Insider.
