Meta Platforms said Thursday that its social network, Facebook, is testing ways to allow users to each have up to five profiles.
This is a significant departure from the requirement that the company has maintained since its inception that each user identify themselves by their "real name".
The company said in a statement that the product change "will help people build their experiences according to their interests and relationships."
These additional files will be linked to one account per user, and the company will continue to require each user to have only one personal account, the statement said.
