Does Wi-Fi Consume More Battery Power Than Cellular Data Network?
A Russian expert in the field of smart information security has revealed ways that help extend the life of mobile phone batteries.

Yevgeny Kashkin, assistant professor at the Department of Intelligent Information Security Systems at Russia's Miria University, told "Prime" agency that connecting smartphones to the Internet at night can damage the device, which is more than three or four years old, according to the Emirati statement.

"If you do not set special settings to update mobile apps exclusively via Wi-Fi, at night your smartphone will start downloading them over the Internet."

Kashkin also stressed that smart device owners can consume a large portion of their mobile phone traffic during a single night, so Wi-Fi devices must be turned off at night in order to conserve battery.

In addition, Kashkin noted that at this time there is a risk of overheating of the smartphone, as well as changes in the geometry of the battery.
