Google Drive is expanding the capabilities of Gemini. In addition to summarizing documents and PDF files, Gemini can now summarize videos stored in Drive. This means users can quickly get an overview or ask questions about a video without having to watch the entire thing.
The update has started rolling out for Rapid Release domains, and will reach Scheduled Release domains on June 16. It will be available for users of the following plans:

Gemini Education and Gemini Education Premium
The update also includes subscribers of Google One AI Premium, as well as anyone who has purchased Gemini Business or Enterprise add-ons.
Once the feature is available, users can open a video file in overlay preview or in a new browser tab. From there, they can click the "Ask Gemini" star button in the top right corner to begin.

The tool currently works only in English, and requires captions/subtitles to be enabled in the video. This means administrators must enable captions in their organization’s settings. To use Gemini features in general, smart features and personalization must also be enabled in the Admin Console.
This update is designed to help users save time, especially when trying to find specific parts or recall what was discussed during meetings.
With Gemini, it's easier to find key details, particularly in long recordings like meetings or presentations.
