A Worrying New Research About Kids’ Screen Time and Their Mental Health
A recent medical study revealed the impact of adolescents spending long periods on electronic devices, especially during the periods of closure the world witnessed in light of the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic.

The time of watching or using entertainment devices among American adolescents during the outbreak of the Coronavirus amounted to nearly 8 hours per day, without calculating the time allocated for distance education purposes.

"Spending more time in front of screens has been linked to poorer mental health and increased stress among adolescents," said lead researcher Dr. Jason Nagata, associate professor of pediatrics at the University of California, Berkeley.

According to the study, the results of which were published in the journal "Jama Pediatrics", and included 5,000 American adolescents between the ages of 12 and 13, researchers have proven a link between spending long times on screens and decreased mental health and increased stress.

Nagata suggested that parents, to reduce the time their children spend on screens, communicate with them, and develop a plan with a schedule that includes the hours allowed to be used in watching any content on electronic devices, encouraging sports or cultural activities, and making sure not to use these devices before bed.
