This is what ROBLOX is planning to do next year

Roblox announced that it plans to launch 3D ads on its platform next year, as it strives to diversify its revenue sources beyond in-game purchases, according to a Reuters report.

ROBLOX said during its annual developer conference that it will be testing ads with developers and a few advertisers by the end of this year.

ROBLOX added that 3D advertising, known as "immersive ads", will only reach audiences 13 and older.

The announcement comes at a time when the deteriorating economy continues to destroy the advertising industry, including giants such as Snapchat and Meta, which owns the Facebook platform.

California-based ROBLOX, which is famous for its Jailbreak and MeepCity games, has been rattled by the reopening of schools after the closure, while hyperinflation has slashed user spending.

To counteract the drop in demand, ROBLOX has doubled its presence on the metaverse, a virtual space where players can do everything from chatting to shopping and attending concerts.

Currently, the company generates most of its revenue from its virtual currency, Robux, which children use to upgrade players' avatars by purchasing in-game items, such as accessories or pets.
