Elon Musk visits Twitter carrying sink as deal looms

American billionaire Elon Musk published a recording showing him entering the headquarters of the Twitter platform, carrying a basin, before completing the acquisition of the platform.

Friday ends the deadline given to Musk to complete the deal for $ 44 billion, which was announced months ago.

Musk agreed a few weeks ago to return to complete the deal before the start of consideration of the case between him and the Twitter board of directors.

Under the clip, Musk wrote, "Enter the Twitter headquarters, and with me this basin."

Musk said that the famous platform needs a lot of adjustments, including the plan he proposed to cut a large number of jobs.

It is not clear if the Tesla founder has met the platform's administrators, but he has changed his location on his Twitter account to San Francisco, which is the company's headquarters.

When Musk first revealed his plans to buy the platform, he said he wanted to delete the fake accounts, and consolidate its position as a platform for free expression.

During a meeting to study Tesla's revenue, Musk said, "I'm excited about the Twitter deal."

“I think it is one of the assets that has been in decline for a long time, but it has a great opportunity, aside from me and some investors, we are paying a high price at the moment,” he added.

It came as Tesla faces criminal investigations over its allegations that its electric cars can drive themselves.

Reuters quoted sources, who were informed, as saying that the US Department of Justice opened an investigation last year, after more than 10 car accidents, some of which killed people, during which the driver assistance system, known as the "autopilot", was being used.

During the meeting, Musk said that Tesla will soon release an update to the "fully automated driving" system, although the company's website says that the driver of the car must keep his hands on the steering wheel at all times, and continue to control it, even when using the autopilot system.

Neither Tesla nor Twitter responded to the BBC's request for comment.

But the world's richest man, a heavy user of the platform and known for his impulsiveness, backed down weeks after completing the deal, expressing concern about the number of fake accounts on it, and noting that it was more than what the administration said.

The platform's management denied Musk's accusations. She said he was trying to back off because of his concern about the price. A lawsuit was filed to oblige him to complete the deal according to the agreed-upon price. But Musk returned to complete the deal again on the condition of freezing legal procedures.

Investors were skeptical about closing the deal, especially as Musk offered a high price for a company struggling to attract users and grow. The deal must be completed before Friday, or Musk will face legal action.
