Reports claim that the South Korean company, "Samsung", is currently investigating reports accusing it of restricting the performance of a large number of smart applications on some of its Galaxy phones.
Samsung uses a service called Game Enhancement Service (GOS) to throttle up to 10,000 apps, in order to save Galaxy phones' battery life, including many gaming-related apps, such as "Netflix" and "Tek" Talk and Microsoft Office, according to the Android Authority website.
The site confirms that Samsung is aware of the problem, but it has not officially confirmed it.
The phenomenon of "smart app throttling" has been spotted by Korean users, who have published a list of apparently 10,000 affected apps. Since the problem was revealed, Samsung's Korean forums have been filled with complaints from users about it.
The (GOS) application was present on some smartphones such as the Galaxy S21 Plus and could not be disabled, but not for the new Galaxy S22 series of phones, according to the "Android Authority".
The Chinese company, OnePlus, recently recognized the phenomenon of “throttle applications” with its latest smartphones in order to save battery life, prompting the “Geek Punch” program to modify the settings in order to match the performance requirements of each application with the appropriate power required.
