LinkedIn adds AI features for job seekers

LinkedIn, the business-focused social network owned by Microsoft, revealed on Wednesday that it now has more than a billion users and is in the process of adding more artificial intelligence-driven features for users who subscribe to payment services.

Surpassing one billion users puts the platform on the path to competing with other social networks, which include multiple “Meta” applications.

The company said that about 80% of new members signed up from outside the United States.

LinkedIn has a free service but also offers other services through monthly subscriptions. Users who pay a subscription of $39.99 per month get new AI features that can tell a user, who may be browsing dozens of job ads, whether they are a good candidate based on the information in their profile.

The system can also recommend profile changes to make the user more competitive for a job.

On Wednesday, the platform also introduced the service of summarizing long posts into a few key points tailored to each user.
