The researchers were able to shrink an entire diagnostic laboratory inside a small sensor based on synthetic biology, which was integrated into the tissues of the mask made of it, as it changes color from the inside when particles of the coronavirus are detected in the patient’s breath, according to the British Daily Mail.
Researchers, who have worked for years to find a sophisticated technology capable of detecting viruses such as Ebola and Zika, succeeded in using what is known as freeze-drying technology, as water is included inside the mask, and with the press of a button, it is turned on and the mask spreads water on the sensor, and once the water and drying technology interact, By freezing, a chain of chemical reactions is created, to discover the presence of corona particles in the patient's breath.
And the also said that the mask is the first test that can give results as accurately as a standard test, but at room temperature, and the researchers also tested how to integrate this type of technology into clothing.
The researchers hope to integrate these programmable biosensors into doctors' and health workers' coats as well as other clothing, to provide on-the-go detection of hazardous materials including viruses, bacteria, toxins and other chemical agents.
