Huge Internet Outage, Some Of World's Biggest Sites Go Down
Many major websites around the world went down Tuesday after Fastly, a major content delivery network, reported a widespread failure.

The websites: CNN, the Guardian, the New York Times, Target, Amazon and many others went down and the problem appears to be related to an outage at Fastly (FSLY), a cloud service provider.

"We are continuing to investigate this issue," the company said on its service status website (which was working).

Nearly 21,000 Reddit users reported issues with the social media platform, while more than 2,000 users reported problems with Amazon, according to outage monitoring website Downdetector.com.

The repercussions of these storms and explosions will include everywhere from global supply chains and transportation, to the Internet and the ability to access the Global Positioning System (GPS).

The use of the Internet has become a common and necessary thing in our daily lives, turning the world into a small village that can be explored with the click of a button. Although the beginnings of the Internet were in the sixties, it did not spread among users everywhere until after the invention of the "World Wide Web www" system. Despite the invention of this network after about 30 years of the existence of the Internet, the term "Internet" has become the name of that network that made it easier for the user to access and send information. The credit for this goes to British physicist Tim Berners-Lee, who devised programs to standardize the systems on which the Internet depends.
