France to test flying taxi routes ahead of 2024 Summer Olympics

The first flying taxis to transport passengers, fans and participants, will actually take off for the 2024 Olympic Games to be held in France.

This project is supervised by the Paris Transport Network and the French Directorate General of Civil Aviation, and two starting points for these vehicles will be allocated at quai d'Austerlitz and La Défense.

A series of tests for this service is supposed to start a few months before the 2024 Paris Olympic Games. These experiments will be related to social acceptability as well as noise and vibration.

From April 2024, ten flying taxis with two seats will be able to experience the first airways, with the driver on board. If the experiment is successful, it will allow airlines to launch this service on the market between 2028-2030.

Many industrial companies and aviation professionals are involved in the flying taxi project, including Airbus, Safran, Ehang and Volocopter.
