Taylor Swift And Other Artists Contribute To Global Warming

Celebrities may do the planet a favor if they cut back on their private jet travel, and Taylor Swift is the forefront of these.

The American news website "Axios" stated that fighting climate change requires major systemic changes, but the personal behavior of many, including celebrities, also helps to reach this goal.

He pointed to a report issued by the British-based marketing company, Yard, which concluded that Taylor Swift's flying habits put her at the top of the list of celebrities "emission offenders."

Small private jets emit a lot of carbon dioxide, which contributes to global warming.

This is not the first time that celebrities have been criticized for their carbon dioxide-inducing lifestyle.

A 2021 report by Oxfam and the European Environmental Policy Institute stated that the richest 1 percent of the world's population caused 15 percent of global emissions in one year.

"Taylor's jet is loaned out regularly to other individuals," a spokesperson said. "To attribute most or all of these trips to her is blatantly incorrect."

But that isn't to say Swift is alone, and in fact, former boxer Floyd Mayweather has contributed almost as much. The 45-year-old has shed 7,076.8 tonnes of CO2 from his private jet this year, which is roughly 1,011 times more than the average person's yearly output.
